Volunteer at the Market

     The Monona Market is run by volunteers.  We’re always looking for people who can help.

Areas of need are listed below.  You can volunteer by calling or emailing Market Manager Ross Cohen at mononafarmersmarket@gmail.com or by filling in the Volunteer Form and dropping it off during the market at the hospitality tent.

            Event Volunteers:

Planning assistance: Helping plan a particular event including publicity, entertainment, activities, developing a budget and finding donations

Day-of-Event: set-up, food preparation, food serving, kids events such as face-painting, games and of course, clean-up

            Market Greeter:

Be an ambassador for the market by helping out on Sundays. Market Greeters work with our Market Manager and the MFM Steering Committee to insure a safe, friendly, welcoming atmosphere for vendors and market visitors.  Greeters host the hospitality tent by answering questions, keeping the area neat, and promoting Monona.  Greeters also walk through market welcoming people and checking on vendors, while keeping an eye on out for potential problems, (ie pets, people trying to drive through market).  Greeters coming for the early period help set up in the morning. While volunteers for the second period help clean-up and put away the hospitality tent.

            Market Committee

The Market Committee consists of interested citizens, the vendor coordinator and a liaison to the vendors.  They handle organizational questions, publicity, fundraising, and events.  People who love Monona and love farmers markets will find a special niche in the steering committee.  We need people with a creative touch as well as those that are willing to roll their sleeves up.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

The Market Committee often needs help for specific tasks such as developing publicity or materials for schools; distributing annual poster and special event flyers to area businesses, community centers, churches etc; website development and upkeep and acquiring sponsors.
